The Eaton County United Way is offering residents of eight area communities the opportunity to direct designations to their communities.  They are Bellevue, Dimondale, Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Grand Ledge, Olivet, Potterville and Vermontville.

Eaton Rapids, Olivet and Potterville have formed their own United Way Committees, which guide the campaign process in their community.  Committee members are active in their home towns and are familiar with the needs of the community.

Following each fall United Way campaign, the Committee in each community solicits applicants for the funds that were designated to the community.  Hearings are held and the needs of each applicant carefully weighed.  After much consideration, the community funds are allocated to agencies that serve each community.

Each year, some agencies receiving funding may be different, and some may be the same.  Many agencies will consistently require financial assistance from their community, while others may require occasional assistance.  Either way, the community’s United Way funds will be used in that community.
